Frozen Food Maker Recalls Thousands

Product Liability LawyerThe U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today that organic frozen food producer, Amy’s Kitchen, has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 75,000 cases of their various product lines. As reported by Fox 59, the California based company issued the recall shortly after being informed that one of their organic spinach suppliers may have delivered tainted produce.

The spinach, used in a wide variety of Amy’s Kitchen products, may contain traces of Listeria monocytogenes. The bacterium is one of the most dangerous food-borne pathogens, known to be fatal in small children, older individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may only experience flu-like symptoms, it can be especially dangerous for pregnant women.

While Amy’s Kitchen has not received any complaints concerning the food in question, the company is taking immediate steps to remedy the situation. The FDA is recommending that anyone who recently purchased Amy’s Kitchen frozen dinners to discard the product or return it to the store for a full refund. Some of the tainted dinners may include:
