A weekend hit and run collision resulted in the death of one motorcycle rider and sent another woman to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident happened at the corner of De Soto Avenue and Saticoy Street in Canoga Park, early Saturday morning.
As reported by KTLA 5, authorities were called to the scene around 3:40 a.m. There it was determined that a black Nissan truck speeding westbound on Saticoy veered into the path of a motorcyclist turning left at the intersection. The man driving the truck didn’t stop to provide aid to the motorcyclist who died at the scene. Police were able to collect the damaged vehicle’s windshield and grill from the scene.
Following a trail of debris left behind, police were able to track down the driver and question him. A female passenger in his car was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The investigation remains open at this time and its unknown if the man was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Sadly, these are scenes we see all too often on the news. Southern California has one of the highest rates of hit and run incidents in the country, with many guilty drivers never being caught.
