According to a report by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), on January 13, 2015, the multinational furniture company IKEA issued a recall of its IKEA VYSSA style crib mattresses, including the following models:
- SLÖA, and
If you suspect that your mattress is part of this recall, check the ID label fastened to the mattress cover. If the label contains the VYSSA model name along with a date of manufacture on or preceding May 4, 2014, then cease all use of your mattress right away and return it to any IKEA store for an exchange or a complete refund.
There have been two reports of infants becoming entrapped due to a gap larger than two fingers width between the defective mattress and crib. Fortunately, none of the incidents involved injuries. However, this does not necessarily mean the recalled mattresses don’t pose a danger. This bears repeating: if you are in possession of a recalled mattress, cease all use of it immediately and return it to the closest IKEA store.
