Hit and Run AccidentA woman in her mid-30s remains in critical condition after being struck by a motorist late Friday night. The hit and run collision happened along the 5500 block of North Figueroa St. in Highland Park around 10 p.m. KCAL 9 reports that the woman was crossing the street when a white four-door Mitsubishi Lancer ran into her, smashing the windshield and carrying her nearly 50 ft. before coming to a stop. Once the woman rolled off the car’s hood, the driver got out and immediately removed his license plates before fleeing the scene. Authorities arrived shortly after and transported the woman to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

Witnesses and police describe the hit and run driver as a Hispanic man in his 40s, standing roughly 5 feet tall. At the time of the collision he was wearing a blue tank top and jeans. Authorities are still on the hunt for the vehicle and believe it has significant damage to the front end.

Hit and run accidents have become a real problem in Southern California, with people injured or killed every month. The cowardly and shameless criminals that commit hit and run crimes are often never caught or face the terrible damages they inflict. If you or a loved one have been impacted by a hit and run driver, you have legal rights – even if the person is not caught.
