Last Sunday, a truck carrying four people went over the side of Angeles Crest Highway in the mountains above Los Angeles. According to a report on KTLA 5, all four were hospitalized after the car accident, including a 12 year old girl who was initially observed to be “pulseless.” The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that the 12 year old was in critical condition while her parents and a friend were listed in good condition.
Reports say that the 12 year old girl was trapped inside the truck and emergency efforts were required to free her. First responders performed CPR on the child, and she was immediately evacuated via a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter.
Those who live in the Los Angeles area know what a beautiful and breathtaking drive Angeles Crest Highway can be. It’s a two lane highway that winds up through the San Gabriel Mountains into the Angeles National Forest, giving some of the best views of nature in Southern California. But due to its narrowness, constant turns, and lack of guardrails, it can be a dangerous roadway to travel. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating to find a cause for the above accident.
