Teenage Couple Killed in Violent Los Angeles Car Collision

Los Angeles car accidentTwo teenagers are dead and two other people are in serious condition after a disastrous car accident in Hacienda Heights. As reported by KTLA 5, the collision happened near the South Seventh Avenue off-ramp, along Rt. 60. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers believe speeding played a key role in the accident.

Reports say a 68-year old man was driving a Lexus SUV at an “extremely high rate of speed” when he went through a stop exiting the freeway. He wasn’t able to make the turn at the bottom of the off-ramp. As a result, the vehicle hit a concrete barrier, became airborne, and hit a truck – containing two 18-year old high school students. The roof of the teenagers’ car was completely ripped off.

The at-fault vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest on its roof in a nearby Denny’s parking lot. A passenger in the Lexus – a 62-year old woman – also suffered major injuries. Both people were taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

Unfortunately, the two other teenagers involved in the collision died at the scene.

Witnesses to the scene described it as a “war zone” and “traumatic.” Alcohol or drugs aren’t believed to have played a role in the accident, but the investigation remains open.
