Bicyclist Killed By Cargo Container in Long Beach

Cargo ContainerWe all know the dangers trucks pose to smaller vehicles on the road. But, they’re even more dangerous to pedestrians and bicyclists. This fact was shown again last month when a cargo container being transported from the Port of Long Beach slipped off a flat bed truck and crushed a man on a bicycle.

The Teamsters Union is on strike at both the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles, and scabs are being used to transport cargo to and from the ports. The cargo containers, which weigh over 40,000 pounds, are usually transported by tractor trailers. Due to the strike, the containers are now being strapped to flatbed trucks where they can easily fall off.

If you’ve gotten injured or lost a loved one in a bicycle accident, you could be entitled to compensation for certain damages. Your first step should be to consult an experienced personal injury lawyer.
